20 Nov 2008: Smelly water!
One of the first things we got working in the house was the rainwater harvesting tank. It is a 5,000 litre tank and servces the toilets and washing machine plus the external requirements. With the amount of rain we get in this country, it should adequately cope with Mum's needs.
It wasn't too long before we noticed a discoloration in the water in the toilets and a rather unpleasant smell. I couldn't continue to blame Paul so we started to research to find an application to deal with our two issues. We needed something that wasn't going to harm the birds when they drink from the pond and the garden plants. We eventually found the perfect product called Refresh made by a company called Biotal Limited. This is an extract from their website www.biotal.co.uk :
Biotal is one of the UK's leading companies specialising in the development of products based on microbial and enzyme technology.
Utilising this technology Biotal has developed a range of natural, non hazardous biological products as alternatives to traditional chemicals which are unpleasant, corrosive or toxic, for Agriculture, Equine, Garden and Industrial applications.
As we have such a large tank, it was recommended that we use the Refresh Plus option and we started using it straight away. It took effect within hours and thankfully our problem has gone away!
