22 May 2008: Leave of absence
I haven't written for a while. Dad has been very ill. He was admitted to hospital on the 12th - he had kidney failure and scepticemia. He was transferred to intensive care and we didn't think he was going to survive but, today he moved onto a normal ward and is making a remarkable recovery. It is going to be a slow process to get him back to how he was but I think he is out of the woods.
Dads' needs are a prime motivator for the design of the bungalow and if he hadn't have pulled through, it is hard to say how we would have felt about the building. Natually it would have been a lovely place for Mum to live but we are all so excited about the independance it is going to give Dad. If he hadn't been around to move in and experience it, it would have been the saddest thing. We just have to push on and get it finished as soon as possible.
