Forget Bluebell Bunalow, this should be call the 'Just-in-Time' house.
Back in December when the concrete roof panels were being craned in, a panel was being held in the air above Paul whilst he finished welding.
Tomorrow the roofer, Paul Rudden arrives on site to cover the roof panels with Polyroof which is liquid waterproof resin. We did a lot of research before we opted for Polyroof and we are really looking forward to seeing the roof in its final form. To get to a stage for the roofer to start, we had to finish the flat roof, (a complicated process - see more details under The Build) and have the barrel vaulted roof grouted and planed. There was a slight ridge between some of the panels which had to be got rid of. The men from Roger Bullivant who are getting the concrete roof ready will be back tomorrow to do the last bit of planing and finished while Paul Rudden will be miking up his liquid resin waiting to apply it.... I only hope the Bullivant chaps are early and Paul Rudden is late!
As I may have mentioned, I am very excited about the gutter system we are having (www.seamlessaluminium.ie) They said that doing a curved section would be no problem but they wanted to come to site themselves and prepared a template for the curved gutter. The only problem with that was they needed to prepare the template very soon as they have to have it made in ireland and shipped over to the UK so time was critical. They couldn't prepare the template until the fascia had been built. The fascia couldn't be built until the flat roof was finished. ARGHHH! Thankfully a good friend of Paul's, Don Welch, came to the rescue and drove down from Leicester for a couple of days to finish the carpentry for the roof. Don is a carpenter by trade and after a couple of long hard days, got the roof finished - which only left Paul to finish all of the sofits fascia over the weekend (weekend? - what's a weekend?)
..and so it goes on. There always seems to be a panic at the last minute and, as we head for the final filming date - with more specialst tradesmen being needed, I am sure the panics will get more frequent and more fraught!
