31 Jan 2008: The end of another week - Gale force winds and more rain

....with the final filming date looming we are in countdown mode or is that breakdown mode!  We have to enlist the help of others and suffer the costs otherwise we will still be finishing this next Christmas!

The seamless gutter chaps came and their first impression was a bit disconcerting!  Having told me they do curved gutters for bay windows every week, they were not sure that they could curve the gutter sufficienly to fit round our wall.  Nevertheless they measured it all and took some photos and headed off.  We haven't heard back so, fingers crossed or should i say...watch this space.

Paul met with the MD of Prolojik www.prolojik.com to talk through the automation for the lighting of the building - a topic that thas been giving him sleepless nights for such a long time.  A solution would be simple if money were no object.  The perception, however, has been that home automation is only for film stars and football players but we will hopefully prove that perception wrong.  We have done a lot of research on the individual component parts of the automation process as we have a heat pump to automate as well as curtains and shutters to operate, the TV, DVD and Stero to turn on and off and the lights to manage.  The key as far as we are concerned is that the ability to operate it is simple and the complicated bit is behind the scenes and irrelevant to Jean and Bill.    Paul came away from his meeting a lot happier about his plans for the automation and also with five lighting circuits - the start!

The polystyrene covering around the outside of the house has progressed well this week and I have even painted some of the concrete roof with a acrylic super white sealing paing courtesy of www.johnstonespaint.com

The week ended with gales and torrential rain - if it carries on like this we are going to struggle to meet our deadline - the entire site turns to marshmallow in a heartbeat.

Next week we have an electrician, two groundworkers, and two carpenters to join the merry team of John, Craig, Paul and me - talk about feast or famine!
